Adorama Music recently posted a video review of IK's latest mobile mic preamp, iRig Pre 2. In it, artist and content creator Raquel Lily unboxes and presents all the applications of the portable interface for connecting condenser and dynamic mics to a smartphone or DSLR camera.
Available now at our online store or from your favorite dealer, this iRig Pre 2 gets a big thumbs up in the review. Watch along to learn why.
It's just really convenient if you don't want to lug around a preamp for a microphone or an entire mixing board.

"A cool feature is that you can use TRS or TRRS and it's autosensing so it'll immediately pick up whether or not you're using mono or stereo.
"About the XLR located on the bottom of the iRig, I'm going to take my Rode NT1-A and plug straight in as if I were doing a music stream or recording. Whatever it is, if you want to plug in a phantom-power-required condenser microphone like this one, it's really simple. All you have to do is plug it in.
If you're a musician or a content creator, you'll find this really helpful.
"If you're wondering if you can use a handheld mic to interview people or to do podcasts, you can definitely plug something in like this Sennheiser E935 and it's the same concept. If your microphone doesn't need phantom power, you can just switch it back to the ON position in the middle and you're good to go.
"There's a 3.5 mm headphone audio jack that you can plug straight into. I'm going to plug in my Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro (headphones) and turn the direct monitoring to the ON position. There is an adjustable, numbered GAIN knob right next to that.
"And since this microphone needs phantom power, we're going to turn that on. And you can also control the gain of your microphone on the iRig itself.
All the basics are covered right here in your iRig Pre 2.
"This is a product that I would definitely recommend to anybody who's trying to ease their mobile setup or up their game creating content. If you're not satisfied with the microphone on your DSLR camera, you could definitely pair this with that.
"This is super lightweight. It could fit in your pocket. You could strap it on to anything. It's just really convenient if you don't want to lug around a preamp for a microphone or an entire mixing board."
